During Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bhumi Pednekar Talks Openly About Body Shaming

Bhumi Pednekar perfectly embodied the part of a plus-size girl when she made her Bollywood debut in the 2015 movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Acting alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, who was already well-known in the field, Bhumi encountered comments from viewers who were shocked to see someone who didn’t fit the mold of traditional beauty in a prominent role.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-250491″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-making-new-laws-to-allow-same-sex-marriages-is-the-purview-of-parliament-according.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com making new laws to allow same sex marriages is the purview of parliament according” width=”1236″ height=”692″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-making-new-laws-to-allow-same-sex-marriages-is-the-purview-of-parliament-according.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-making-new-laws-to-allow-same-sex-marriages-is-the-purview-of-parliament-according-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1236px) 100vw, 1236px” title=”During Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bhumi Pednekar Talks Openly About Body Shaming 3″>

Bhumi discussed how people would treat her back then in a Bollywood Bubble interview. When Ayushmann and I traveled for Dum Laga Ke Haisha, she said. People would yell, “Are Ayushmann!” when we would be aboard an aircraft, fly mein hote the. Hey Ayushmann, heroine kaun hai. I would be behind him (Who is the heroine? He would give me a really sympathetic gaze. People would be shocked to learn that you are a heroine. (Is she the protagonist?) And I would say, “See, this is why I value this movie so highly.”

Bhumi regularly takes on a range of characters in her movies, exploring women-centric stories like Saand Ki Aankh, socially conscious movies like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Bheed, as well as suspenseful mystery movies like Afwaah. She wants to alter public perceptions of female actresses and provide new possibilities for everybody. Bhumi is aware that since she doesn’t fit the mold, she could not be given certain parts, but she is adamant about continuing.

“You see, certain types of pictures come my way because of the decisions I’ve made and the movies I’ve made. There have probably been discussions, and I am aware of them, where it was said that I wasn’t cast in a movie simply because I don’t look like a typical, conventional heroine. But my point is that I’m going to alter that story and redefine what your typical heroine would be, and that’s what motivates me and makes me say, “It’s okay,” she added.

The Lady Killer will be Bhumi’s next film.
